Monday Morning Coffee: Shelbyville / I.O.O.F. / Deans

Been a good weekend for watching sporting events.  A couple of favorites - Celtics and Liverpool - were winners.  Others - Woman's 3 on 3 basketball and NFL playoffs - were just fun to watch.

From a Fall photo walkabout in the annually growing Shelbyville, county seat of Shelby County, platted in 1822 and incorporated in1850.

Below on the right along Washington Street, is the rather impressive 1895 red brick I.O.O.F. lodge hall.

   Shelbyville, Indiana.

These days, participation in fraternal organizations has   declined. As numbers dwindle and members age, more lodges have been forced to disband, leaving significant buildings vacant and at risk.

Next to the Lodge Hall is what appears to be a new front added to a red brick building housing Deans Dry Cleaning & Laundry.

Deans Dry Cleaning & Laundry has been in business since September 1980.  They offer, in addition to dry cleaning & laundry, home cleaning, floor cleaning, drapery cleaning and garage organization.
