Berne is a city in Adams County, Indiana with a population of 4251 in 2025.
Berne, founded in1852 and incorporated in1887, was settled by Mennonite immigrants who came directly from Switzerland.
Today, Berne remains known for its Swiss heritage, architecture and culture.
Along a street in the center of the city,
on a corner, is the Peoples State Bank a locally owned and operated community bank.
