TGIF: Jiffy Lube

Been a quiet week at the My Midwest Headquarters.  With the weather cold and snowy, we have hunkered down around the computer / television / reading / cooking with only very short trips outside. Promises to warm up in the coming days.

Discovered that a favorite photography blogger has returned to posting after stopping for a bit.  Guess that some folks just enjoy writing and blogging and are unable to stop.  In any case pleased the blog is back.

While most of my interest is in seeing / photographing 1890 - 1920 architecture, after the local Mall photographs, have decided to turn my attention to include various franchises.  Not sure how it will play out but will give it a go

First up is a nearby - about two miles away - Jiffy Lube.

Jiffy Lube International, founded in Utah in 1971, is an American chain of automotive oil change specialty shops with over 2,200 independently owned franchises in North America.

Jiffy Lube went public in 1987.  In 1991 it became a subsidiary of Pennzoil. The Quaker State Lube stores,  following the 1998 merger of Pennzoil and Quaker State, were absorbed into the Jiffy Lube brand.

Jiffy Lube was ultimately purchased by Shell Oil Company in 2002.

The Richmond Jiffy Lube opened in 1999 in an updated 57 year old building which was originally built as a Standard Oil gas station in 1949.

In order to continue to grow and to offer addition services, the building has been expanded.
