Now days, most digital cameras will produce a successful photograph. Which one to use is the one that works for you.
Over the years beginning with Nikon have used various Panasonic, Fuji and Pentax offerings. Each choice produced very acceptable results and were worthy of continued use.
In changing from one to another, it came down to which was best for ease of use for a chosen subject.
Disliking changing lenses in the field, the past few years when photographing, have usually carried two camera bodies. One with a zoom wide angle lens and the other a zoom normal to short telephoto lens.
Photography life would be a bit more simple if one camera with a fixed zoom lens could cover these two choices.
Over the past weeks have been searching for a camera with a fixed zoom lens to replace using two cameras.
Turns out that in 2019, had such a camera. After using it for a short time, for some forgotten reasons, rejected / replaced / moved on to something else.
Reviewing results from 2019, came across
an image of the Town Hall.
Now this was taken with a Panasonic FZ2500 fixed zoom lens camera. That result looked good and very acceptable. Decided to order one and give it another go.
Now deciding was one thing and ordering a new one turned out to be a bit difficult. Seems that most suppliers listed it as discontinued.
Finally found one, ordered and arrived on Friday.
Set it up and on Sunday returned to Knightstown to see if this was a correct choice.
Arrived, parked, picked up the camera and walked a bit and photographed the TOWN HALL.
Knightstown, Indiana.
On an earlier 2019 visit, using a Panasonic FZ2500 camera,
Knightstown, Indiana.
photographed this mural depicting the Hoosiers 1986 Hickory basketball team.
At the time it was located on a building
Knightstown, Indiana.
in the center of town.
Today, Sunday October 5, 2025, the location is a little different as
Knightstown, Indiana.
the mural is gone and the For Sale bank building is now Li LuLu's Playhouse and the Plumber is replaced by Antiques.
Conclusion: Now at all clear as to what I was thinking in 2019. Right now, after checking these examples, the Panasonic FZ2500 is a keeper.
