Monday Morning Coffee: Hammer / Nail

Another bit of hammer (camera) and nail (subject) testing, while out and about with the Panasonic G9 and the Pentax monochrome.

In this case, the nail was a now closed downtown building that housed printing services.  The present owner has shuttered  services at this location and moved back to another local neighborhood location.

First off, used the Pentax monochrome camera.

    Richmond, Indiana.

While pleased with the with range of tones that the camera produced, the over all result is a bit ho-hum.  Yes it shows the message - we've moved - but the overall feeling is boring.

Returned the Pentax to the bag, picked up the Panasonic G9 camera and used it to photograph the building.

        Richmond, Indiana.

Now, with bits of red, yellow and blue along with range of black / gray / white / tones, the image comes alive.

Conclusions:

Both cameras produced images in keeping with their intended results.  Pentax with a range of black & white tones and Panasonic with accurate color values.  The hammers were working correctly.

The problem was the nail.  This was a subject that called for color not monotone.

Once again, using a proper tool will produce a more successful result.
