TGIF: Tale of Two Communities

A couple years ago, the United States Postal Service announced the nationwide closing of a number of post offices.  Several of these were in smaller communities that were to be served by larger nearby locations.

   Pershing, Indiana.

Pershing, aka East Germantown, was slated to lose their post office,  it was shuttered and the building replaced by exterior mail boxes.  To receive your mail you pick it up rather than a home delivery.

Other services such as stamps and packages must be obtained elsewhere.

   Boston, Indiana.

Boston's Post Office was also on the closing list.  Instead it remains open with reduced hours.
