TGIF: Long Week / Steam Bakery

A very long week filled with many non-photographic projects, including cleaning, construction, gathering and cutting fallen tree branches and sorting thru files to decide what keep and what to throw.  Enough alreadyBack to our regular programing.

From the latest journey, a building that once housed the Mercer Steam Bakery.

   Peru. Indiana.

What is a steam bakery?

A steam bakery takes its name from the method used to heat the oven. Steel tubes containing water are heated by either gas, coal, or by oil until the steam rises to a temperature of 500ยบ F. This heat is more than sufficient to bake the bread to a lovely golden-brown color.

Enjoy your weekend and return on Monday for more views of Peru, Indiana.
