Project: Working

The next few Wednesdays are going to be devoted to working.

Off an on, been photographing people performing their jobs for some thirty years.  Unlike the Poor Jack Amusements project which was within a fixed time span and closed environment, Working utilizes continuing time, various locations, photography materials and equipment.

Bit of back story.  Grew up listening to the Studs Terkel Program that aired on WFMT Chicago radio station. The one-hour program was broadcast each weekday between 1952 and 1997. On this program, he interviewed guests as diverse as Marin Luther King, Mort Sahl, Tennessee Williams and Big Bill Broonzy.

Perhaps a larger influence was his book.

Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do.

This is a written collection of conversations spanning a range of the ordinary to well known people.

Will begin with an example of physical work in a unwelcome atmosphere.

Note: To maintain personal security will not identify the workers
