TGIF: Quiet Now / Hillsboro / Colony

Right now, it's early morning here and all is quiet.  Expecting Helene storm to arrive about noon.  Been promised 35-55mph winds along with much rain.

Also, good chance of losing power due to the wind and falling trees.  Will hunker down in a windowless area and hope for the best.

Brief bit about Hillsboro, Ohio.

Hillsboro, the county seat of Highland County, Ohio with a 2024 population of about 6,660, was platted in 1807.

Hillsboro is growing annually as its population has increased since the most recent census, which recorded a population of 6,489 in 2020.

The Colony Cinema in the center of town opened in September, 1938.

            Hillsboro, Ohio.

It was operated by Chakeres Theaters Inc. and operated as a movie theatre until 1993.

Chakeres Theatres deeded the property to the city, the city turned it over to a non-profit organization and it became a concert and live entertainment venue.

In it's final years it was the Hillsboro Opry - a country music venue.  Finally, it was closed, demolished and replaced with a parking lot named Colony Park.
