It grew from a trading post into a key stop on the National Road, including stops on the Underground Railroad, and contributions to early aviation and recording history, with Gennett Records and aviation pioneers like the Wright brothers.
Richmond Present: Richmond, the County Seat, is currently a growing city with a 2026 population of 35,561, a median age of 38.1 years and median household income of $46,395.
However, with a poverty rate of 23.21%, along the intercity streets
and in the alleys behind
a bit of reality can be found.
