While wandering around College Corner, came across what was once a bank. The bank closed and the building has been recycled into an Event Center.
After returning home, this discovery reminded me of several previous similar encounters.
There was the Union State Bank in Hobbs
Then there was the Boston Bank
now a serving as a someones home.
Another, now vacant, Bank building in Carthage.
These closures are not limited to small declining locations. No indeed, right here in the central downtown of Richmond
the Chase Bank building stands vacant, empty and up for sale.
We often write about declining populations but these Midwest communities are losing more than just people, they are experiencing the lost of financial opportunities.
