Black & White Wednesday: Miller Brothers To Furniture Gallery

The Miller Brothers Hardware Store built in 1886.

    Richmond, Indiana.

George Miller was one of nine poor children whose father died when he was only twelve years old, leaving George and his mother work their way out of poverty.

By 1910 the Miller Brothers Hardware Store had grown to the third largest hardware store in the United States, doing over $1,000,000 in business when the average worker made less than twenty cents per day.

In 1954 Paul and Katherine Richert started Richmond Auction and Furniture in Richmond, Indiana.

In 1982 their son, auctioneer Roger Richert, took over the reins of the family business and expanded the business, opening Furniture Outlets in Richmond, Muncie, Daleville and New Castle.

In 2004 the Richmond Furniture Gallery - aka Miller Brothers Hardware Store building - their flagship retail store was renovated and restored.
