TGIF: The Week That Was / New Castle

First off.  Yes, the snow arrived.  Not a large amount but enough to realize that summer is long gone and fall is nearing its end.  Next up - Winter.

Much of the computer time this past week was devoted to learning the strengths and weaknesses of Affinity Photo 2 and Paint Shop Pro photo software.

The learning curve for Affinity Photo 2, similar to my copy of Photoshop, was straightforward and, initially of the two, my choice.  The only drawback is that it doesn't allow the use of Photoshop plugins.

A bit of searching around the web lead to downloading, installing and having a go at Paint Shop Pro.

Discovered that while Paint Shop Pro is somewhat limited compared to Photoshop and Affinity.  Its main attraction is its ability to accept Photoshop plugins.

However, after loading them into the program, was unable validate them.  Further investigations showed that these particular plugins had been discontinued and while previous installations would continue to work, newer installations would not.

As of today, this is where we are:

Two potential new software photo editing programs for the newly acquired laptop each unable to duplicate the desk computer Photoshop workflow.  While Affinity is the present choice, a search continues for one that accepts Photoshop plugins.

Effort was also spent in shaping up and preparing for the approaching change of seasons.  Outdoor chairs and table moved inside, new heating filters installed and additional heater for the computing area.

Finally, in order to evaluate various editing programs, used
