Black & White Wednesday is on hold this week and will return - hopefully - next week.
On October 5, 2011, Paul L. Brittenham, an Army veteran of World War II, died at age 94.
He owned a grocery store in Centerville before he opened Paulee restaurant in 1948. Paulee was operated as a family business that included his daughter.
Richmond, Indiana.
Brittenham retired at age 89. The restaurant remained open thanks to an employee who had worked for him for 20 years.
A problem with a shared wall closed Paulee because of safety concerns. The wall was repaired in late 2016, but the restaurant remained closed .
Tom Broyles purchased the closed Paulee property from Brittenham’s daughter with a goal to repair and reopen Paulee’s restaurant.
Now in 2024, it is again open for business.
