Mornday Morning Coffee: Location, Indiana

Was going to title this post Economy, Indiana which would be confusing to most folks and after they opened the file to discover it's not what they wanted.

They probably expected to find an article on the economy of Indiana not a post about an Indiana location.

Lets start off an overall viewpoint.  The estimated population of the state of Indiana in 2024 is 6,862,199 or 6.9 million.  Overall the Indiana population has, mainly in urban and suburban locations, a small positive growth rate.

However, the state population losses for people younger than 18 was close to 8%.  As more and more young folks move away, perhaps for school, and / or for employment opportunities, this causes a population decline in rural areas. If young rural adults move away, then the families that they will have aren’t in hometown communities.

Wayne County, Indiana estimated 2024 population is 65,839 with a growth rate of -0.33% in the past year.

Economy is a town in Wayne County, Indiana with a 2024 population of 145.

Economy was laid out and platted in 1825. The town was named by the original landowner, Charles Osborn, who thought of laying out the town into lots as the most "economical" way of selling off his property, hence the name Economy.

   Economy, Indiana.

Economy is currently declining at a rate of -0.68% annually and its population has decreased by -2.03% since the most recent census, which recorded a population of 148 in 2020.
