Berne is a city in Monroe and Wabash townships, Adams County, Indiana.
The population was 3,999 at the 2010 census which is down from the 4150 in 2000 and by 2014 it was up to 4036.
Berne
and the surrounding area have become known for their large Amish
population, who speak Bernese German which is a Swiss German dialect.
This history is reflected in much of the city architecture.
