TGIF: Computer / Converse, Indiana

Yesterday- Thursday - was not the the highlight of the week.  In fact, it was a day to be forgotten.
Usually at this time - early January - install latest edition of virus protection software. The installation process started off as advertised.  The first two machines loaded and installed the program quickly with no problems.
Moving to a third computer and using the same procedure as before, the software refused to be downloaded.  The error message suggested returning to the download page and try again.  On returning and attempting to download the program, the same message came up.  Time to look out the window and have a cup of coffee.
After the break, returned to attempt to download the program. Failure was the result as the same error message came up.  Tried eight more times and the results were the same.
Not at all clear as to what was happening, time to seek help from the programs IT experts.  Contacted, by phone, the support desk, explained the problem and was told to try again.  This went of for a bit, until was handed over to next higher level tech person.  Seemed knowledgeable,  understood the problem but after an hour of trying to fix the problem was transferred to a top level tech.

Again explained the difficulty.  The next two hours were filled  with attempting various possible solutions. Finally a solution to the problem, the ability to download and install the virus protection, was uncovered and program downloaded and installed.
Solution time, not counting my attempts, was over three hours on the phone with three different experts. Not fun.
Returning to regular programing, brief visit to Converse, Indiana.
