Monday Morning Coffee: Galveston, Indiana.

Galveston is a town in Cass County.  In 2000 the population was 1532 and by 2014 this had dropped to 1288.  This a decrease of almost 16%.

Have visited Galveston a couple of times and each time come away depressed.  In early December, the latest visit, learned that on November 29  the town marshal resigned.

This left the town without a police department.  This the third marshal to resign in the last two years.  Residents will now have to call the Cass County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement.

Combined with this is the continued decay of the local Masonic building.  A dumpster sits in front of the building for use by the residents living nearby in the recycled structures.

More later in the week.
