Monday Morning Coffee: North Vernon

The city of North Vernon is in Jennings County with a 2014 population of 6,636. This an increase of about 2% from the 6,515 of 2000.

Running thru the center of downtown is the East/West cross country US Route 50.  Fifteen years ago, passed thru North Vernon while traveling across the United States on Route 50.

At that time deemed the place was too big to stop and spend time photographing.  Vowed to return later and this past Sunday, did.

Now you know you are in Indiana, when in the downtown you come across this.

Although the city has grown in the last few years, in 2015 the percentage of residents living in poverty was 24.4.  Once again, reminded that these are still hard times in the Midwest.

On the edge of town, near the railroad tracks, is the Wayside 

Inn and Christian Fellowship.
