Monday Morning Coffee: Presidents Day, Fog and Gone.

Presidents Day:
While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present.

A day to reflect on the successes and failures of presidents past and present.  A few early ones stand out - Washington father of country, Lincoln - freeing slaves, Roosevelt - interning Japanese living in United States and recently the universal health care under Obama.

Woke up today to discover to area covered by a very dense fog.  After a hurried breakfast, set out, with Liah leading the way, for a bit of walk over in Preble County.

Losing all sense of reality as we were completely encased by fog and unable to see beyond the immediate and very near.   With no clear idea of our particular location the future seemed unpredictable.

Yes we were on a road that we covered many times, but one misstep would certainly impact the future.

In May three years ago, while wandering downtown, came upon a storefront Iglesia.

   Richmond, Indiana.

Yet along with grocery stores, and signage in two languages, another indication of a local growing diversity.

Returning this February to find:

   Richmond, Indiana.

Was reminded on this foggy Presidents Day how one missept would certainly impact the future.
