Monday Morning Coffee: Flags and Freedom

Cold and cloudy gray sky weather.  A fine time for black and white images.

Earlier set a goal of working more with black and white photography. It requires a bit different mind set.  Shape and form instead of color value are key ingredients in composition .

With that in mind here are a couple of examples.

        Richmond, Indiana.

                Martinsville, Indiana.

Sorry about the flags, here in the Midwest they are displayed not just on Flag Day but year around and seemingly multiply like rabbits.

While color images are a departure from reality, black and white in doing away with color, further extend this departure.

Working in black and white photography feels comforting along with an increased freedom of expression.  Need to continue to do it more often.
