Monday Morning Coffee: Gas To Stone

Gasoline stations have, over time, evolved from complete vehicle service and repairs to selling goods, food and drinks along with gasoline.

Locally, many stations have closed, some replaced by state or national gasoline companies.

A few closed empty buildings were repurposed into retail, service or professional use.

In addition to selling gasoline the building included an vehicle service area.

This prime site on Route 40 is now occupied by the Richmond display location of Wearly Monuments.

Founded in 1899, Wearly Monuments designs, carves, and installs granite cemetery monuments for Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.

With a total of 50 display locations it is now, based on total sales volume, one of the largest retail monument firms in the United States
