After a long day of traveling along crowded roads, finally found a location to spend the night and after settling in, decided to let someone else cook the evening meal.
Although it was rather late, a nearby cafe was still open. Quickly entered and discovered they were closing in 30 minutes. Ordered what was available, hurriedly ate and finished in time before they closed for the night.
Leaving, asked what time they open in the morning and said would return for breakfast.
Up early, following a restful night, packed up and headed to the cafe. They were just opening and within a few minutes coffee arrived. Cooking took a bit more time as the stove and grill required a warm up period of time.
Breakfast arrived, unlike the previous night, took my time and lingered over an additional couple of cups of coffee.
No one else entered. With Virginia at the counter a few feet from my booth, a conversation began.
What was I doing, where had I been, where was I going and soon on.
She told me she started working in the cafe while in high school and continued after graduation. When the original owner retired she remained and became the owner.
That breakfast made up for the previous tiring day and made the coming day a very productive day.
