Was a rather warm overcast day, exiting interstate 80, to visit West Liberty, a city in Muscatine County, Iowa with a population of 3864 in 2020.
West Liberty is the state’s first Hispanic-majority town.
The community’s largest employer is West Liberty Foods. a producer of turkey products with a meat processing facility as well as its corporate headquarters in the city. The facility slaughters around 20,000 turkeys per workday and further processes turkey products.
In April 30, 2020 West Liberty Foods reported that 71 employees at its West Liberty location had tested positive for the virus.
