Monday Morning Coffee: Keeping At It

Quiet weekend.  The  sheltered in place / lockdown has been photographically both good and bad.

The bad is that because of the Covid-19, it is not too smart to be wandering about unfamiliar urban landscapes as never know what or who you may come across.

The good is that, with a personal knowledge of your familiar local community along with careful preparation, photo walks are possible.

Short local journeys often lead to seeing previously overlooked and dismissed opportunities.  Suddenly the familiar becomes unique in the sense of very remarkable or unusual.

   Richmond, Indiana.

For over fifty years have often photographed this Knollenberg building but on this recent day it suddenly appeared different.

Perhaps it was the light, maybe it was my mood in any case we, the building and I, were together and the photograph happened.

For many years have often stopped and photographed this abandoned Quaker Meetinghouse.

   Richmond, Indiana.

Attempting each time to capture the feeling of being abandoned.  Unlike the above recent photograph, this is an early result.  The more recent results don't convey the sense of discard that this offers.

There is no correct or incorrect time to stop photographing a given location.  The important task is to continue looking and once in a while you see.
