In 1949, Harry Hoff and his sons, David Hoff and Stephen Hoff, founded Hoffco, which traced its roots to the 1860s and Hoff Sheet Metal. The company introduced the innovative scythette power trimmer that it invented. The company expanded to sell a variety of lawn and garden care implements.
After 60 years in business, Hoffco/Comet Industries Inc. announced Oct. 19, 2009 that it was closing.
Once the Hoffco lawn machinery manufacturing facility is now a warehouse.
